Just, whatever.
March 9, 2008 – 7:55 pmI know, I suck at blogging.
Right now, I am at a crossroads of sorts. I was rejected (so far) from 4/6 graduate programs I applied to. Most upsetting was the rejection from my top choice, University of Arizona. With 4/6 rejections so far, I doubt the other two will be selection letters. With that in mind, I decided to try to apply the University of Utah’s MA program at the urging of a professor of mine who I ran a study idea by. I wouldn’t even necessarily finish the degree, but finish the study and apply again next year. The other option was to stay on as an undergrad. I decided against this. As a grad student, I can get an RAship or a TAship and make some money while I do it. Updates to follow.

I’m sorry to hear about your graduate school disappointments. I’m sure you’ll hear a million of these type stories, but my oldest brother was only accepted to one of the philosophy graduate programs he applied to. So he took a year off and slept on the floor in one of the rooms in our house (we were at full capacity) and taught test prep. A year later he reapplied and got into some better schools. I know the whole thing was really tough on him because he never got to be in his dream program, but he has loved Brown (where he went) and is about to get his phd. So don’t lose hope (not that it sounds like you have, i can see you’re gearing up to move forward) The way things turn out will continually be surprising and plus, you’re very smart, so that’ll pay off
Anyway, if you ever want to grab a couple of teas at SL Roasting (although I seem to remember you prefer Coffee Break [blech]) I’m available. Hope you’re well
