Let’s Go Trick-or-Treating Dressed up Like Marilyn Manson.
October 31, 2006 – 10:20 pmI like Halloween. Any holiday designed specifically for the mass consumption of candy is okay in my book. Further, as a holiday that permits children a few days when parents cannot deny them candy is acceptable to me. As a kid, I loved dressing up, running around the neighborhood begging for fattening goodies, and otherwise misbehaving.
There are a few things I have come to hate about Halloween: adults dressing in costume. I don’t so much mind adults dressing up for their own costume parties, but a few things have to go:
· College students attending class in costume. Not cool.
· There are certain costumes, as well as parties based upon similar themes, that are overdone at adult costume parties: slutty takes on Snow White or the Devil, fetishists, pimp/ho couples, and of course the Crow.

I’m a huge fan of that song! But who actually sings it?! I’ve called x96 year after year and nobody knows. Any help Brother would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeremy.

The Salt Lake Tribune ran an editorial regarding possible costume ideas. The ones that stood out to me included a shotgun and a suicide note and going as Kurt Cobain, as well as dressing up as Mark Foley.

Don’t do the Rocky Horror Tower stuff. It sucks even more than you’d think it would.

Rocky Horror is a Thanksgiving Movie and should not be seen by anyone OVER the age of 15.

I like Halloween. I dressed up as a stressed-out student studying for an anatomy exam at 8 a.m….. ohhh wait, that was real life.
I can’t wait until I have something to do other than complain about anatomy.

I know this is quickly becoming an old post, but since I neglected to comment earlier and I thought you’d find it amusing, I’m going to relate this little story.
The guy I work with (and I can get away with saying “the guy” because there’s only one other male in the office) has, in years past, gone trick or treating with his children dressed as Eeyore of Winnie the Pooh notoriety. I’ve seen the pictures, and it’s a surprisingly good fit. But he told me that he’s now swearing off Halloween costumes altogether because last year his children ran off with their friends and he was left as a middle-age man wandering the sidewalk alone, dressed as a Disney character and surrounded by children. I thought that was extremely funny. I bet he felt about as comfortable as I did when I was assigned to photograph 14-year-old girls at a math and science camp.
